Korean Name: 풋배추

Romanization: Putbaechu

Scientific Classification: Brassica rapa subsp. Pekinensis

Also Known As: Winter Grown Cabbage

What is Winter Cabbage ?

Eolgari, or Putbaechu kimchi

"Put" means "unripe." Other than Putbaechu, "put" is used as a prefix for green pepper (put gochu) and green apples (put sagwa).

Therefore, putbaechu means "young chinese cabbage". It is white-yellowish, and more tender than the fully grown cabbage.

Nutrition/Health Info

Winter cabbages are rich in Vitamin C, and helps prevent colds.
