I hope everyone is having a great summer! I just wanted to send you all a quick note about an upcoming Korean Food Documentary that I (aka Kimchimari haha) had the honor of being a part of!
In late April, I was contacted by YTV America (a Korean News cable channel in Southern CA) for their upcoming documentary series on Korean Food in America. It is a 3 part documentary about the status of Korean food in America. I know this may seem a little odd to non-Koreans but if you know anything about Koreans, you will know that Koreans really care (sometimes I think too much 😝) about how Korea or Korean culture is perceived by people outside of Korea. And in this documentary, they wanted to introduce me as one of the Korean food bloggers in the US. So in June, they came to film me at my home – cooking and blogging along with my friend Judith.
It was an exhausting day but was great fun because my friends (my friend Soojin also came) was there with me to ease my nerves and support me with encouraging words. I will talk more about the day in my next post on Pan-Fried Rice Cakes filled with Sweet Red Beans (Bukkumi) which I will be posting later today or tomorrow.
But I wanted to give you all a heads up, just in case you live near LA area and are able to view the YTV channel. I am not sure exactly what footage they are going to use but I think you will be able to see my garden and my kitchen.
Here’s the broadcast schedule:
- Korean Food Documentary Part 1 : July 14th Friday 9:30 PM
- Korean Food Documentary Part 2 : July 15th Saturday 9:30 PM – I will be shown here
- Korean Food Documentary Part 3 1 : July 16th Sunday 9:30 PM
They also told me that it would be available online on their Youtube channel about a week later. Will keep all of you updated!
